Brandon Chamber Honors Business Excellence at 143rd Annual Awards Gala
May 14, 2026
“This event celebrates the people and organizations that continue to shape and strengthen our business community,” said Jennifer Ludwig, the President of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce. “The passion, innovation and leadership demonstrated by this year’s nominees and recipients are truly remarkable, and their impact extends far beyond their businesses.”
The evening’s highest honour, Business Person of the Year, was presented to Dale McKay, CEO of Shur-Gro Farm Services, in recognition of his leadership, vision and contributions to both business and community.
Dale McKay thanked the Chamber and acknowledged the important work of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce. He reflected on his life in agriculture, saying, “I grew up in agriculture and have spent the past 40 years at Shur-Gro serving farm customers.” His role at Shur-Gro gave him the opportunity to build relationships with people across Canada and the United States. Dale also recognized Ron Helwer as both a mentor and a friend, noting that after Ron’s passing, his children continued to lead the business with the same steady hand.
Congratulations, Dale, for your many years of dedication to Shur-Gro, agriculture, and the Brandon community.
Well deserved!
